FAQ for Federal CARES Act and Housing (Updated June 9, 2020) 

Repayment Agreements: DOH encourages anyone who cannot pay their rent to reach out to their landlord immediately and offer to work out a repayment agreement. DOH has developed Model Repayment Agreements in both Spanish and English which can be found here.  

Property Owner Protection program (POP) emergency rental support through landlords: DOH is standing up a new program with CARES Act funds through which landlords of affordable rental properties or mobile home parks can apply for assistance on behalf of their tenants. Timing for Funds: Application available online mid July.

Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) payments for individual households: DOH has partnered with 20 agencies across the state to offer rental and mortgage assistance to households financially impacted by COVID-19. The agencies serving each county of the state can be found here.

July 12, 2020 — Gov. Polis extended an Executive Order to expedite the processing of unemployment insurance claims for Coloradans and will help protect the economic well-being of Colorado’s communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.


July 12, 2020 — The Governor extended an Executive Order to provide relief to public utility customers to mitigate, respond to, and recover from the current economic disruption due to the presence of COVID-19 in the State. The Governor extended and amended an Executive Order ordering State agencies to help prevent evictions of tenants economically harmed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
